Keine Werbung, kein Tracking

What data is processed
Only on your devices
- Match history (teams, results, progress), recently used settings and your display name. This data is only exchanged between your iPhone and your Apple Watch (WatchConnectivity).
- Apple Health (optional): During a match a workout runs on the Apple Watch so that Punto stays on screen (showing e.g. heart rate and energy). You decide in the Watch settings whether the workout is saved to Apple Health; Punto works without Health access as well. Health data is never transferred to me or any third party.
- Camera: only to scan the QR code of a match. No images are stored or transferred.
On the server (live sync)
As soon as an internet connection is available, Punto creates each match on the server so that your own devices and viewers can follow the score live. The following is stored:
- Anonymous device identifier: On first launch every device signs in anonymously and receives a random identifier. It is not linked to any name, email address or phone number.
- Display name: freely chosen, by default the device name (e.g. “iPhone”).
- Team and player names, team colors and match format.
- Scores (sequence of points), timestamps and the 6-digit match code; also whether “Share live” is on and whether an iPhone or an Apple Watch is scoring.
- Viewers of a match (identifier, display name, time) and requests to hand over scoring.
Anyone who knows a match’s code, QR code or link can see this match data. Do not enter names that should not be shared. In addition, only I as the operator can access all server data, to find errors and delete expired data.
When connecting to the server and when visiting this website, Google technically processes your device’s IP address.
Anonymous error reports (can be turned off)
If live sync fails (e.g. sign-in failed, points were rejected repeatedly, the connection was lost for more than 60 seconds during a match, a match could not be loaded), Punto sends a short report to the server. It only contains: error type, platform (iOS/watchOS), app version and build, operating system version, general device type (e.g. “iPhone”), time, a short technical error code and – only if needed to find the error – the random match ID. It contains no names, no scores and no device identifier. Each device sends at most 20 reports per day. You can turn the reports off in the app settings on iPhone and Apple Watch (“Anonymous statistics & error reports”).
Anonymous match statistics (can be turned off)
So that I can see how many matches are played per day, week and month, the server stores an anonymous summary of each match: start and end time, sport and format, whether “Share live” was on, whether an iPhone or an Apple Watch was scoring, the number of points, the set scores (e.g. “6:4 3:6 10:7”) and whether the match was discarded. It contains no names, no team colors and no device identifier and is kept after the match itself is deleted. It can be turned off with the same switch (“Anonymous statistics & error reports”).
Purpose and legal basis
The data is processed solely for the app’s features: live display, scoring on several devices and watching. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the features you use) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation). The anonymous error reports are only used to detect and fix live sync errors, the anonymous match statistics to understand how Punto is used (both Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in stable operation and further development); you can object at any time by turning them off in the settings. There is no profiling and no sharing for advertising.
Service provider: Google Firebase
For the server, Punto uses Firebase by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, as a processor:
- Firebase Realtime Database located in the EU (region europe-west1, Belgium) for the match data, the anonymous error reports and the anonymous match statistics.
- Firebase Authentication for the anonymous sign-in (identifier, time of creation and of the last sign-in). This service may also process data in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and additionally uses the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Firebase Hosting for this website and the join links.
Punto contains no Firebase SDK, no Google Analytics and no Crashlytics; the app talks to the interfaces directly.
Retention
- Matches on the server expire 24 hours after their last change. The app automatically deletes expired matches from the server as soon as one of the involved devices opens Punto again. If you discard a match, it is deleted immediately.
- Anonymous error reports are deleted after 30 days.
- Anonymous match statistics are deleted after 13 months.
- Anonymous device identifier: kept as long as it is stored in your device’s keychain. I delete it on request.
- Data on your devices stays until you delete it in the app or remove the app.
No ads, no tracking
Punto shows no ads, does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites and uses no third-party analytics tools. This website sets no cookies.
Crash reports and TestFlight
If you agreed in the iOS settings to share with app developers, Apple provides me with anonymized crash reports. When testing via TestFlight, Apple’s terms also apply; I receive feedback and screenshots that you send yourself.
